How to create a profile when organising companionship

companiions takes the struggle and stress out of arranging care, but before you can start booking companiions, you’ll need to create a profile for yourself, or your loved one if you are booking it on behalf of them. The good news is it’s easy when you know how.

Begin with the brilliant basics

First, you’ll need to sign up, selecting whether to find a companion for yourself, or for a loved one. This is where you’ll enter some basic details, like your full name and email address. At this stage, you’ll also create a password. Make sure it’s strong enough, to keep your account safe. It should be longer than 8 characters, contain a mix of numbers and letters.

Once you’ve done this, you’ll be taken to the companiions app homepage, where you can choose to complete your profile or your loved ones profile. Alternatively, you can choose to browse local, available companions and even create a visit using our handy scheduler before profile completion.

Before you can send a visit invite to book a companion, you’ll need to complete the profile section. This helps companions to know more about who they will be visiting. You’ll be prompted to do this when looking to send a visit invitation, or you can go to account settings at any time.

Follow the easy steps to verify your email completion and then we’ll ask for some basic details, including your name and date of birth or that of your loved one depending on who is looking for a companion.

Upload a photo

Ideally add a photo of yourself or your loved one, so potential companions can put a face to a name and recognise them if and when they visit. There’s no need for fancy photography here. Just share a shot that you love (and that your loved one is comfortable with). As always, a smile goes a long way. Don’t worry if you don’t have or feel comfortable to add a picture, although advised to ensure visits are accepted, you can skip this step.

Write a bio

Tell potential companions a bit about yourself or your loved one. A few sentences will do the trick. This is your chance to give others a sense of yours or their personality, hobbies and interests, and to talk in more detail about companionship needs.

Are you or your loved one looking for someone to help with the chores? Or mostly friendship and a good chat? Whatever it might be, let companions know.

Include key information

In order to find a companion that’s the right match, it’s important to include any other key information that might affect any visits.

Do you or your loved one have any special needs? Are there any disabilities, or any access requirements companions should know about? What about allergies? Or medication? This is your chance to detail it all in one place, so companions are always aware and you don’t have to keep repeating yourself.

Add hobbies and interests

Companionship is all about togetherness. You’ll want you or your loved one and the companion to share fun, meaningful conversation and even activities. So it’s always worth adding hobbies and interests.

Whether it’s baking, crosswords, thriller movies or painting, let companions know what makes you or your loved one tick.
